While affecting the majority of Western economies, perhaps no other country was more profoundly impacted than the late Weimar Republic in Germany, where the significant financial burdens of the Versailles Settlement had carved out deep economic grooves for nearly ten years. The years immediately following the Great Depression in Germany would witness the gradual rise in the polls of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party and, in 1933, the appointment of Adolf Hitler as the last Chancellor of the Weimar Republic.<\/p>\n
